Note: From the Toledo Blade - 01/26/2006 William A. Jacoby, age 84, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Bill attended St. Wendelin Schools, Fostoria; received a football scholarship to, and graduated from John Carroll University and was drafted by the Detroit Lions. He was a Certified Public Accountant and partner 35 years for Arthur Young and Company, former president of the Ohio Society of CPAs, Board member of the former Sylvania Savings Bank, Board member of Catholic Cemeteries, and a Navy veteran of WWII. After retiring he continued his career in accounting, working for both Schill Pattern and Lo-Temp Brazing. At grandparents' day at St. John's Jesuit High School, Bill was recently recognized as having the most offspring attending the school. Bill is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Gillig/Wonderly); children, Mary Ellen (David) Estrada, Stephen (Mary Jo), Anne (Bernie) Heinl, Timothy (Jennifer) of Concord, MA, Mark (DeeDee), John of Midlothian, VA, Paul (Debbie), William (Kerrie) of Chandler, AZ; 30 grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Aubry (Millersburg); many loving nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Thomas (Denise) Wonderly, John Christopher (Laura) Wonderly and 6 stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia (Lichtle); daughter-in-law, Norah Jacoby; siblings, Gerald, William, Mary Catherine, Irene and Elizabeth. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the J. Jeffrey Fretti Funeral Home, 5045 W. Sylvania Avenue (At Corey Rd.) 419-843-1117 where prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Saturday followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Little Flower Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening in the mortuary. One of the charities closest to Bill was the Franciscan Missions. His cousin, Fr. Aloysius Jacoby was a missionary in Africa. Bill provided funds for African seminarians, clothes, monies and at age 75 assisted his cousin for many weeks at his Zambian Mission. Bill's example of living his faith will always be an inspiration to those who knew him.
